Márcio Carocho is a researcher at SusTEC - Associate Laboratory for Sustainability and Technology in Mountain Regions and CIMO (Mountain Research Centre), both from the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB), in Portugal. He holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacy from the Complutense University of Madrid, and a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology from IPB. His research focuses on food science, chemistry of natural products, and food coatings. In 2023, he was one of the most cited scientists in the world (TOP 2%) in the food area, having already registered three patents. Since 2020 he is a co-founder of Tree Flowers Solutions, a biotech startup focused on the development of sustainable technologies for the agrifood sector.
