The aim of the project is to provide a biodiversity baseline, as well as data on the quality of the air, water and sediment and background noise levels for the preparation of the environmental and social impact assessment for the planned Struganik multipurpose dam. The dam is to be built on the Ribnica (Mionica) River, 1 km upstream of the Ribnica Monastery, to regulate floods and irrigate the area. The environmental studies will consist of desk work and field studies. The desk work will focus on the available literature on the flora and fauna of the Ribnica river basin and adjacent areas to identify the gaps in knowledge, while the field studies will be used to fill these gaps. The outcome of the project will be a detailed list of fauna and flora species with indications of their protection or endangerment status, accompanied by maps of the habitats identified in the project area.
