Scientists from the Department of Molecular Biology are involved in full-time research of processes affecting mammalian cell functioning in response to diverse challenges associated with diabetes. Molecular biological research relies on multidisciplinary competences in diverse areas, and the scientists from the department have expertise in a broad range of specialized disciplines, including cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry and protein biochemistry. Members of the Department of Molecular Biology organize courses, participate in teaching and are mentors in the Doctoral Degree Programme in Molecular Biology at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade.
Researchers from the department work in a project that is financed by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia, entitled: Signaling molecules in diabetes: search for potential targets in intrinsic pathways for prediction and intervention in diabetes, with Dr. Goran Poznanović as Head of Project. This project includes two sub-projects.
