Due to accelerated urbanization and decreasing free space for green areas, the resilience of urban areas to climate change is reduced, so we strive to develop new ways of greening cities. Green roofs include plants which absorb significant amounts of atmospheric CO2, simultaneously releasing O2, and significantly increase the building's energy efficiency reducing the amount of electricity used for cooling and heating buildings. The goal of the project is to develop innovative and more functional cassette green roof as a long-term and important element for the decarbonization in the non ETS sector, as well as the reduction of environmental pollution in cities. The project implies improvement of the current business model of the company Green decor by starting the production of cassette green roofs which includes a new combination of plants which are more resilient to changed climate conditions and therefore more effective with minimal maintenance. The selection of the plant species resistant to changed climate conditions will be achieved through the scientific research that will be conducted by the Institute for Biological Research "Siniša Stanković".
