Joint Danube Survey 4

The Institute for Biological Research "Siniša Stanković" participates in the realization of the Joint Danube Survey 4 as a part of international and Serbian national team. This international expedition is fourth complex scientific survey organized since 2001 each sixth year (to be harmonized with River Basing Management Planning procedure), in organization of the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR), and with support of the European Commission and “Danubian” countries, with aim to rise general knowledge about the river processes, status and public interest in scientific activities along the Danube.

IBISS participated in all JDS since 2001.

The key purpose of Joint Danube Surveys (JDS) is to produce reliable and comparable information on carefully selected elements of water quality for the length of the Danube River, including its major tributaries, and to harmonise water monitoring practices and procedures in accordance with the EU Water Framework Directive (WFD) through close coordination and further training.

Researchers of the IBISS, together with colleagues from Faculty of Biology University of Belgrade, Faculty of Science, Department of Biology University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Science, Department of Biology University of Niš, Faculty of Science, Institute of Biology University of Kragujevac, Institute for Public Health of Serbia "Dr Milan Jovanović Batut" and Serbian Environmental Protection Agency participates in realization of several complex research tasks.
