Herbal medicines, traditional herbal medicines and dietary supplements: characteristics and ways to bring them to the market

The seminar will focus on the possibilities of using bioactive natural products as pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals as well as the existing regulatory requirements for the approval of these products.

Dr. Tatjana Kundaković-Vasović is a full professor at the Department of Pharmacognosy, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade. She deals with the chemical analysis and evaluation of the biological activity of plants, fungi and marine organisms from Serbia and the Mediterranean region and their use as pharmaceutical products, food supplements or cosmetics, as well as with the quality control of herbal drugs and herbal medicines. She has published over 100 scientific and professional publications, is the author of a registered domestic patent and author and co-author of two monographs and textbooks on pharmacognosy. She has been involved in the realisation of several national projects and is currently the head of professional studies for health personnel and workers, control and application of medicinal plants and chairperson of the Section for Medicinal Plants and Phytotherapy in the Union of Pharmaceutical Associations of Serbia. He teaches Pharmacognosy and Phytotherapy.
