Dr Slavica Dmitrović (born Milivojević) is a Principal Research Fellow at the Department of Plant Physiology, where she has worked since 2003. Previously, she spent three years as a Trainee Assistant at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade. She obtained her BSc in Biology in 2000 from the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, completed her MSc in 2003, and earned her PhD in 2012 at the same institution.

She has published a significant number of publications in international peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. During her career, she has participated in four national and two international research projects. By contributing to the preparation of several doctoral and master’s theses, and supervising one doctoral dissertation and one master’s thesis, she has supported the training and development of young researchers.

Her main research interests include plant physiology; physiological responses of weeds to stress conditions, particularly at the level of antioxidant defence and gene expression; allelopathic interactions mediated by essential oils and compounds released from plant roots, plant extracts, and dominant compounds in extracts, aimed at developing environmentally friendly bioherbicides; elicitation of specific secondary metabolite production in plants; biotechnology; and in vitro micropropagation of rare and endangered plant species.

Dr Slavica Dmitrović has participated in science promotion activities within the "NEPETOME" project at the European Researchers’ Night and the international event “Fascination of Plants Day” under the auspices of the European Plant Science Organisation (EPSO) in 2022 in Belgrade. She is a member of the Serbian Plant Physiology Society (SPPS) and the Federation of European Societies of Plant Biology (FESPB).
