Dr. Tatjana Ćosić
Tatjana Ćosić has been working at the Department of Plant Physiology of the Institute for Biological Research "Siniša Stanković" since 2008. She obtained PhD degree in Biological Sciences from the Faculty of Biology at the University of Belgrade in 2015. Her interest includes studies in the field of plant physiology, plant biotechnology, as well as secondary metabolism and stress physiology, with a special focus on the matter of hormonal regulation of morphogenetic response in commercially important plant species in vitro. In particular, she’s engaged with the physiological and molecular characterization of de novo shoot organogenesis in kohlrabi, and the elucidation of regeneration mechanisms in plants that are not usual model-systems for studying morphogenesis in vitro. During her scientific research, she won a number of awards in the form of grants for participation in international congresses in the field of plant biology and biotechnology. During the period from 2017 to 2022, she managed the Laboratory for Molecular Biology of the IBISS Department of Plant Physiology. She is one of the protagonists of scientific cooperation between IBISS and Czech Laboratory for Plant Hormones Analysis. She readily shares her research experience and knowledge with students of the Faculty of Biology, whom she often helps through the preparation of student scientific research and the organization of student internships in cooperation with the Serbian Society for Molecular Biology. Over the years, Tatjana has shown her love for plants through promotion of science, especially among younger pupils, and is currently part of the IBISS team involved in the organization of Fascination of Plants Day manifestation, which is celebrated under the auspices of the European Plant Sciences Organization (EPSO). She is member of the Serbian Plant Physiology Society (DFBS), the Federation of European Societies of Plant Biology (FESPB) and the International Society for Plant Biotechnology (IAPB).
