The "BARAmetar" project connects the scientific goal, collecting data on the position and condition of small stagnant waters - an important but completely neglected natural resource of Serbia, with citizen science and thus significantly increases the data collection capacity by involving interested citizens-volunteers. At the same time, this project, by creating and conducting theoretical and practical workshops, aims to contribute to raising public awareness of the importance of preserving small stagnant waters and the environment, but also of the potential of citizen science in creating environmental protection and preservation policies that reflect the needs and priorities of the local community. The expected results of the project for the participants are: (1) understanding the importance of preserving the quality of small stagnant waters for biodiversity, ecosystem health and human health; (2) development of skills in data collection through scientific research; (3) greater interest in environmental, scientific topics as well as involvement in citizen science projects; (4) formation of electronic database of small stagnant waters of Serbia.
