For the experiment, healthy, 60-day-old male Wistar albino rats will be used. The animals will be divided into the following groups: Control group (C) and 6 experimental groups treated with 6 different magnesium supplements. Each group consists of 6 animals housed in separate cages with free access to food* and water at a constant room temperature of 22°C and a light cycle of 12 hours of light/12 hours of darkness. The experimental groups of animals will be treated orally with equal Mg concentrations of 50 mg/kg b.m./day (according to the literature data) by gastric gavage with 6 different Mg unknown preparations dissolved in distilled water during 30 days (Burch University, Sarajevo, BH). The control animals will received the same amount of pure distilled water daily by gastric gavage during 30 days to simulate the same experimental conditions as the treatment animals. On the 30th day, the animals were sacrificed by decapitation using a Harvard guillotine under isoflurane anesthesia.
