A part of our scientific research is focused on the role of glucocorticoids in the pathogenesis of stress-related diseases, among which are Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) characterized by both reproductive and metabolic disturbances, and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder investigated as a part of international project Psychobiology of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder supported by The European Commission within the frames of Framework Six Programme (FP6).
We conduct our current research on animal models of Metabolic Syndrome andPCOS using experimenatal techniques ranging from biochemical and endocrinological analyses to methods such as ELISA, Western blot and qPCR, as well as proteomics and behavioral testing.
Two research groups participating in the implementation of the project beside Prof. Matić's grour are the group of Dr. Goran Korićanac at VINČA Institute and the group of Prof. Svetozar Damjanović from the Institute for Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases. This collaboration is aimed at facilitating translation of the project results to clinical practice.
