Opening of the Pan-Balkan Alliance of Natural Products and Drug Discovery Associations (PANDA) Secretariat in Serbia

At the “Belt and Road” International Symposium of Science and Technology Innovation held on September 25-27, 2019 in Shanghai, China, the Pan-Balkan Alliance of Natural Products and Drug Discovery Associations (PANDA) was formally established.

It is a non-governmental, non-profit, open, international scientific alliance formed by scientists and colleagues from different research institutions, universities, various scientific associations and business units from People's Republic of China and Pan-Balkan countries (Republic of Serbia, Republic of Slovenia, Republic of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Republic of Bulgaria, Montenegro, Republic of North Macedonia, Republic of Albania, Greece). Alliance aim is promotion of the mutual development of natural products, drug discovery based on natural resources in these countries, and food safety.

Following the establishment of this association, on the 30th of October 2020, PANDA secretariat in Serbia was founded at the Institute for Biological Research “Siniša Stanković” – National Institute of Republic of Serbia (IBISS), University of Belgrade.

The responsibility of this secretariat is daily operations and communication of PANDA as a resource sharing base. Our goal is to improve the exchange and communication among researchers, to promote the capability of innovation of science and technology, as well as joint training and exchange of talents and researchers. Raising many programs among members of various institutions within the Alliance that should be based on friendly consultations and mutual benefits.
