On Thursday, June 16, 2022 the Institute for Biological Research “Siniša Stanković” - National Institute for the Republic of Serbia (IBISS), University of Belgrade, had the honor to host representatives of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, First Secretary Shi Yi and Third Secretary Li Rui. On that occasion, talks were held on the continuation of cooperation within the Pan-Balkan Alliance for Natural Products and the discovery of new drugs - PANDA and the Joint Laboratory "One Belt, One Road".
The Pan-Balkan Alliance for Natural Products and Discovery of New Medicines (PANDA) was jointly launched by the Shanghai Materia Medica Institute (SIMM), the Chinese Academy of Sciences and IBISS in April 2019. The goal of this association is to promote the joint development and discovery of new medicines based on the natural resources of the Balkan countries and China.
The "One Belt - One Road" laboratory, a Chinese-Serbian Joint Laboratory, for natural products and the discovery of new drugs, was formed by SIMM and IBISS in May 2021, and is led by representatives of China and Serbia, Prof. Ye Yang (SIMM) and Dr. Marina Soković (IBISS).
Besides, the correspondence involved other topics related to scientific collaboration and exchange of experience in the field of research covered by the IBISS.
