The doctoral dissertation of Dr. Jelena Đuknić, research associate of the Department of Hydroecology and Water Protection of IBISS, "Diversity and genetic variability of the Simuliidae family (Insecta: Diptera) in the area of the Balkan Peninsula", was declared the best dissertation in the public competition "Akademic Milutin Radovanović" from the field of zoology at the University of Belgrade for the 2022/2023 school year.

Mentors of the thesis are Dr. Ivana Živić, full professor, University of Belgrade - Faculty of Biology and Dr. Nataša Popović, senior research associate, University of Belgrade - Institute for Biological Research "Siniša Stanković" — National Institute of the Republic of Serbia.

The award ceremony will take place on Thursday,28th September 2023, at the Faculty of Biology's anniversary celebration in the "Jevremovac" Botanical Garden from 16.00h.
