Award of the "Akademik Radoslav K. Anđus" Foundation for the best scientific publication of a young scientist in the field of physiology/biophysics for 2023/2024

The work of Ana Stepanović and colleagues was selected in the competition of the "Akademik Radoslav K. Anđus" Foundation for the best scientific publication by a young scientist in the field of physiology/biophysics for 2023/2024: Novel hybrid compounds of sclareol and doxorubicin as potential anticancer nanotherapy for glioblastoma, Biomedicine & Pharmacotherapy 174, 2024, 116496.

In addition to Ana Stepanović, Dr. Milica Pešić from the Department of Neurobiology IBISS is also a co-author of the paper. In their study, which was published in the journal Biomedicine & Pharmacotherapy, Ana Stepanović and her colleagues investigated the use of the new hybrid compounds sclareol and doxorubicin for glioblastoma therapy. These hybrid compounds were confirmed to be nanoparticles through measurements on a Zetasizer device and transmission electron microscopy, with chemical modeling also conducted. The results obtained on glioblastoma cells are not only of fundamental importance, but also of significance for applied biomedicine.
