Pavle Ćosić

Pavle Ćosić is a research trainee at the Department of Cytology of the Institute for Biological Research "Siniša Stanković" – National Institute of the Republic of Serbia, University of Belgrade, and a PhD student at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade. His area of scientific interest includes the structure and function of the pituitary-adrenocortical system in a model of experimental androgen deprivation and estrogenization of male rats. The aforementioned rat model is being developed for the purpose of simulating various clinical practices, from prostate cancer therapy to sex reassignment. The effects of the treatment are evaluated from the cellular level to the level of the complete endocrine system, with emphasis on the morphophysiological changes of the pituitary and adrenal gland, as well as on the corticosteroid hormonal status. The methodological approach in Pavle Ćosić's research involves the use of modern tools and techniques in the field of qualitative (analytical) and quantitative histology (histochemistry, immunohistochemistry, light and fluorescence microscopy, stereological and biochemical analyses).
