The strategic project of bilateral scientific cooperation with the People's Republic of China entitled "Comparative Analysis of High-Quality Germplasm Resources in China and Serbia: A Study on the Efficacy Components of Traditional Herbal Medicine Using Spatiotemporal Multidimensional Technology" will focus on the genetic background, comparative analysis, and metabolite diversity of wild plant species from the Balkans and their cultivated varieties in China, specifically within the genera Digitalis, Salvia, and Scutellaria with a focus on the medicinal potential of these plants. Using modern analytical techniques and methods, the project will aim to improve the understanding of the medicinal properties of these plants and identify new bioactive components.
At the Institute for Biological Research "Siniša Stanković" - National Institute of the Republic of Serbia, on December 6, 2024, the 31st expert meeting of the Serbian Society of Parasitologists was held for the first time at this Institute. The meeting was hosted by Dr. Milan Miljević from the Department of Genetic Research, a regular member of the Serbian Society of Parasitologists.
This week, for the first time in our country, the Chromium iX device was launched, with the help of experts from 10X Genomics (Rebecca Mitchell) and Labena (Marina Panek). This powerful device, located at IBISS, was acquired with the support of the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia.
Within the Technology Transfer program of the Innovation Fund of the Republic of Serbia, a project under identification number ID 1170 has recently been approved. This project investigates the impact of a traditional fermented beverage on human health. The project is led by Dr. Aleksandra Mladenović, Senior Researcher at the Department of Neurobiology at IBISS, with participation from Dr. Smilja Todorović, Research Associate at the Department of Neurobiology, and Dr. Tanja Vukov, Senior Researcher at the Department of Evolutionary Biology.
