The project of bilateral cooperation is designed to conduct coordinated sampling to detect changes in the structure and composition of the macroinvertebrate community along the Tisza River, which could serve as the basis for a common database on the macroinvertebrates of the Tisza River. The project objectives are:

• Exchange of knowledge and experience in identification;
• Survey of the distribution and inventory of endangered, protected, and endemic aquatic macroinvertebrates along the Tisza River;
• Mapping of invasive species of aquatic macroinvertebrates in the Tisza River;
• Monitoring changes in species richness and community composition;
• Assessment of the ecological status of the Tisza River.
