University of Oxford professors Jeremy Tomlinson, head of the research group "Metabolism and Biology of Steroid Hormones," and Amanda Adler, director of the Clinical Unit for Diabetes, were guests of the STRIMHealth project at IBISS from September 25 to 26, 2025. During their visit, they held a workshop titled "Bridging the Gap: Translational Pathways in Biomedicine."
The workshop was attended by 40 doctoral students and young researchers, who received an introduction to translational research on metabolic diseases, with a focus on how basic scientific discoveries are successfully translated into clinical practice. The practical part of the workshop included interactive sessions with the professors, giving participants the opportunity to design and present concepts for selected examples of clinical studies.
On the second day of the visit, IBISS research groups working on metabolic diseases presented their research to the Oxford guests and discussed potential opportunities for future collaboration.
