Founding start-ups in Serbia, raising capital for growth and development - lessons from practice

Nikica Marinković is a serial entrepreneur and a degree engineer in Agriculture with a specialization in Agri-management from the University of Novi Sad, Serbia. He has extensive experience across various sectors, including innovation, agriculture, and IT. Nikica's expertise spans over a decade, including roles as the director of a small agriculture company specializing in strawberry production (2008-2010), having enhanced his agricultural knowledge in Italy, Israel, and the USA.

As the founder of Zelenoo.com, an organic farm-to-fork food delivery startup in Serbia, Nikica has demonstrated a passion for social entrepreneurship and innovation in the food supply chain. He is also the founder of AgroAkcelerator, an incubator for startup ideas in the agricultural sector in Southeast Europe for student teams.

Nikica is also the co-founder of Woolapack, a startup focused on creating organic packaging made from sheep wool and recycled materials, which won the Smart Living Challenge (Eat category) in 2014. His entrepreneurial journey includes participation in the Investment Ready Program Academy in Vienna (2015), the CEE Impact Day (2016), and CEE All Stars at Google Campus in Warsaw.

In 2023, Nikica reached the finals of the Entrepreneurship World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, ranking in the top 40 out of 30,000 startup companies, organized by the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN). Additionally, he has been recognized as a Global Innovator by the Expo 2020 Dubai organization.
