Dr. Uroš Gašić

Uroš Gašić was born on November 24, 1986 in Šabac. Parents: Miodrag Gašić and Dragica Gašić, born Šarčević. He is married to Ivana Gašić, born Milutinović and has a son, Vukašin, and a daughter, Mina. He finished elementary school in Mehovine and Vladimirci, and high school (natural sciences and mathematics) in Šabac. He started his basic academic studies at the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Chemistry in 2005. He completed his doctoral academic studies (PhD) at the Department of Analytical Chemistry of the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Chemistry in 2017. He was employed at the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Chemistry from 2009 to 2019 as an expert-technical associate, and since 2019 he has been working at the Department of Plant Physiology of the Institute for Biological Research "Siniša Stanković" (IBISS) – Institute of the National importance for the Republic of Serbia – University of Belgrade. He was elected to the scientific title of Principal Research Fellow in 2023. His main research interest is related to the analysis of plant secondary metabolites, their identification and quantification using liquid chromatography with mass spectrometry as detection, and he is also involved in research in the field of food science and technology. He is a member of the Serbian Chemical Society since 2011 and the Serbian Plant Physiology Society since 2019. He is a member of the review board in two international journals (Biomolecules and Metabolites) and he is a guest editor in the journal Frontiers in Nutrition - food chemistry section. In 2019, he was the winner of the medal for scientific zeal and success in science (recognition for the results of research in the field of food chemistry with an emphasis on the analysis of plant secondary metabolites), awarded by the Serbian Chemical Society.
