Within the Program of Serbian science cooperation with the diaspora, associates of the Department of Neurobiology were granted funding for a project: "Vascular Impairment as Mediator of Alzheimer´s Disease" - VIMID.
Project leader:
Dr. Željko Pavković, Department of Neurobiology IBISS
Team members from IBISS:
Dr. Milka Perović, Department of Neurobiology IBISS
Dr. Irena Jovanović Macura, Department of Neurobiology IBISS
Nikola Milovanović, Department of Neurobiology IBISS
External advisors:
Dr. Vesna Tešić, Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, Department of Neurology
The main goal of the VIMAD proposal is to foster scientific exchange and establish a collaborative study that will introduce a novel in vitro model of the blood-brain barrier in neuroscience research in Serbia. The MAIN RESEARCH GOAL is to elucidate key molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying endothelial dysfunction in Alzheimer’s disease by isolating the primary brain endothelial cell cultures from AD and control animals of the state-of-the-art mouse model, the APPNL-G-F knock-in mice.
