The Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia has published the final ranking list of projects for funding under the PRISMA program. The Institute for Biological Research "Siniša Stanković" participates in six projects, of which it is the leader in four projects.

Dr. Mirjana Mihailović, director of IBISS, received a plaque commemorating 170 years of biology, 50 years of molecular biology, and 25 years of ecology and environmental protection.

The doctoral dissertation of Dr. Jelena Đuknić, research associate of the Department of Hydroecology and Water Protection of IBISS, "Diversity and genetic variability of the Simuliidae family (Insecta: Diptera) in the area of the Balkan Peninsula", was declared the best dissertation in the public competition "Akademic Milutin Radovanović" from the field of zoology at the University of Belgrade for the 2022/2023 school year.

Mutual visits between the participants of the project "Investigation of additions of strontium carbonate and strontium fluoride to calcium silicate dental cements: physico-chemical and biological characterization (STROCE)" were carried out in 2023.

IBISS had a team for the Serbia Business Run this year as well. 10 colleagues participated. Some ran and some walked, and all in IBISS T-shirts proudly completed the 5-kilometer course and took 57th place out of 346 teams.

In the Microgallery of the Center for the Promotion of Science (Kralja Petra 46), from September 14 to the end of October 2023, passers-by can experience live a part of the research project conducted by researchers from the Institute for Biological Research "Siniša Stanković".

Institute for Biological Research "Siniša Stanković" has opened the doors of its laboratories to interested high school students, lovers of biology.

With the support of the EU Delegation in Serbia, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the best project proposals received so far in response to the Challenge call for innovative solutions for the green transition of the Serbian economy have been selected. 

The director and deputy director of IBISS, Dr. Mirjana Mihailović and dr. Momir Paunović, together with the assistant minister of science, technological development and innovation, Dr. Marina Soković, accompanied by the technical secretary of PANDA, Nađa Hadžimurtović, were invited by the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica (SIMM) to visit numerous biotechnology incubators and bases in China.

Last week colleagues from the Department of Plant Physiology participated in the 10. Seed Days of the Region "Growing the Future – Bringing together the players of the Agri-Food Chain", a gathering launched by the Seed Association of Serbia held in Divčibare.
