One of this year's winners of the "Goran Ljubijankić" Foundation award is our colleague Dr. Marija Đorđević from the Department of Molecular Biology for the Ph.D. Dissertation "Transdifferentiation of mouse pancreatic alpha cells into cells that produce insulin by targeted DNA methylation using the EpiCRISPR system", under the mentorship of Dr. Jelena Arambašić-Jovanović and Dr. Melita Vidaković from the Institute for Biological Research "Siniša Stanković".
As part of the capital equipment procurement for the year 2023, the SeqStudio™ Genetic Analyzer System (Applied Biosystems) has been installed at IBISS. Interested researchers underwent training on how to use this device from January 12th to January 13th, 2024.

Today in Belgrade, the construction of the BIO4 campus has commenced, with a total worth of 450 million euros. This multidisciplinary project integrates biomedicine, biotechnology, bioinformatics, and biodiversity. The campus is intended to accommodate faculties and scientific institutions, including IBISS.
The Center for the Promotion of Science awarded IBISS with recognition for its support and outstanding contribution to the work of the Center for the Promotion of Science in 2023. The awards were given at a ceremony held in the National Museum in Belgrade, in the presence of representatives of the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia.
In accordance with the Environmental and Social Management Framework the World Bank and experts from the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia, announce the Environmental and Social Management Plan with the Report on Public consultation, has been accepted for the project Genetic diversity maintenance and population dynamics in natural populations of endangered plant species: Flower color polymorphism in Iris pumila L. - IRIS.
The 5th B Chromosome Conference was held in Petnica, October 14-17 2023, organized by the Institute for Biological Research "Siniša Stanković" and the Serbia Genetic Society as co-organizers. Eight plenary lectures, eighteen oral and seven poster presentations were held.
At this year's competition "Communities Together" announced by the NIS company, IBISS won funds in the amount of 1,107,852.00 dinars, which are intended for the purchase of an automated biochemical analyzer. The procurement, installation and commissioning of the analyzer will take place over the next few months.
A group of researchers at Stanford University has updated the author database of standardised citation indicators and published the results for 2022. This list includes the most cited scientists from across academia and this year also includes our three colleagues, researchers from the Institute of Biological Research "Siniša Stanković", Dr. Marina Soković, Dr. Jasmina Glamočlija and Dr. Marija Ivanov, associates of the Department of Plant Physiology.
